Tim has been a living historian for 15 years. Initially he became involved in the American Civil War Campaigner’s Battalion. This organization was dedicated to the lives of the common soldier who lived, fought and died for their individual causes. It was during this period that he discovered that you could actually "touch the past", not merely reenact it. To accomplish this Tim began researching 1860’s letters, diaries, and other primary sources for insights to what items the soldiers used. This experience became the basis for his interest in "hands on" learning and the philosophy of anthropological experimentation.
After leaving the 1860’s time period, Tim embraced his local western New York historical roots. He became a volunteer interpreter at Fort Niagara and takes part in many of the sites events and educational programs.
Following his natural love of the outdoors and history he began to follow the trekkers path. This route has exposed Tim to many adventures and the founding of lasting friendships.
Another important aspect that should be touched upon is Tim’s interest in historic leathercraft, His father William was a craftsman and teacher who instructed him in the basics of the trade. Tim now enjoys demonstrating this craft at events and reproduces various documented leather items.
Tim is married to his wife Nancy-Ann and lives in Cheektowaga, New York. He is employed by the Township of Cheektowaga, St. Joseph’s Hospital and is an adult education instructor.
Along with being a Staff Writer for On The Trail Magazine you can find his writings in the Camp Chase Gazette, Military Images, Civil War News, Interpretant Nouvelle France, and Then And Now, The Journal of Old Fort Niagara.
